Psychedelic Facilitator Certification
Launching in 2026, the Psychedelic Facilitator Program is designed for those who have completed Level I of the Grof Breathwork Facilitator Program, have been previously certified in holotropic breathwork, or demonstrate advanced understanding and experience in facilitation consistent with the Grof lineage. This program will provide a unique and deeply experiential approach to psychedelic facilitation, grounded in actual experience of holotropic states as experiencer and as facilitator. By integrating Grofian theory and practice with modern advancements in psychedelic therapy, the program will prepare facilitators to guide safe, ethical, and transformative experiences with a range of psychedelic medicines.
The program is still under construction, so stay tuned for more details, but please see initial program highlights below.
Experiential and Immersive Training
Building on foundational breathwork training, this program emphasizes the facilitation of psychedelic experiences through immersive practice and theoretical understanding, informed by over 60 years of research led by Stan Grof and recent developments in the psychedelic renaissance.
Energy Release Techniques and Application
Training will include energy release methods, such as bodywork, for supporting individuals during or after psychedelic experiences, as well as the use of Grof Breathwork for preparation, integration, or as an alternative to psychedelic use.
Grofian Theory and Psychedelic Research
Participants will engage with both classical and cutting-edge research on the therapeutic potential and risks of psychedelics. Through this lens, the program explores the use of psychedelics for various therapeutic needs and contexts.
Assessment of Substance Suitability
Facilitators will learn to evaluate the appropriateness of specific psychedelic substances for individual participants, taking into account personal history, goals, and aptitudes. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the benefits and specific risks of the range of substances now recognized in therapeutic practice.
Lawful and Ethical Use
Experiences with psychedelic medicines will occur only in lawful settings, including potential retreats within the United States or internationally. Grof Breathwork will continue to serve as a core practice, supporting both personal and professional growth throughout the program.
Integrated Training Pathways
Participants will engage in at least six experiential modules involving specific psychedelic medicines. Additionally, the core modules from Level II Grof Breathwork Training—Holotropic Music and Applied Grofian Psychology—will be essential components, fostering skills that support both breathwork and psychedelic facilitation. Participants will have the option to apply for simultaneous enrollment in both the Level II Grof Breathwork and Psychedelic Facilitator programs.
